Our plans include a detailed construction manual with colour images and diagrams PLUS full size frame templates with dimensions to make building your board faster.


In addition to your plans you will need...

3 sheets of 3mm plywood for the hull sides, bottom panel and deck.

2L of epoxy resin

20m of 50mm wide fibreglass tape

gluing & filleting powder

sandpaper, brushes, gloves mixing cups etc.


    Note: I have built all my boards from exterior grade plywood using epoxy and fibreglass and they have been long lasting, light and durable. But the choice is yours!

    What you’ll need to build the Cutwater 12.5

    A practical overview of the materials, workshop setup and commitment for your build.

    Materials needed

    3 sheets of 3mm marine grade plywood.
    Timber for stringers.
    3 litres of epoxy resin and 10m fiberglass cloth.
    Fasteners, adhesive and suitable marine finish.

    Estimated build time

    Allow 30 hours, which equals just 5 hours per week over 6 weeks.

    Tools required

    Measuring and marking tools
    Jigsaw, drill and sander
    Clamps, sanding tools and safety equipment

    Woodworking experience

    First time builders through to experienced boat builders.

    Estimated materials cost

    Estimated total cost is $450-$500.

    Estimate will vary with timber selection, local supplier prices, tools already owned and finish options. Check the plan’s bill of materials before purchasing.
